Flowers as Inspirational Motifs

Flowers are central to Sophie’s artistic expression and recurrent motifs in many of her paintings. With their multi-sensory allure, flowers beckon viewers to engage with their rich forms and textures. Sophie’s works encapsulate intimate moments with her subjects, striving to capture and immortalise their essence and structure. As Manet famously asserted, “A painter can say all he wants with fruit, flowers, or clouds.”

Winter’s diffused and muted light imparts a distinct quality to her paintings during this period. Conversely, summer’s brighter and warmer conditions infuse her artworks with vibrant chromatic hues and dynamic brushwork.
